During the interview with the Georgian media Samvel Balasanyan highly appreciated the positive changes taking place in Batumi year by year, and added that the city has become more attractive for tourists and investors. Gerogi Ermakov and Samvel Balasanyan talked about finding more convenient ways of developing cooperation between Gyumri and Batumi by expressing bilateral support for its implementation. In his turn, Gyumri mayor Samvel Balasanyan had officially invited his Batumi partner as well as the Ajaria’s Armenian Community’s delegation to the Gyumri city celebration on October 5, 2014.
On September 1st, Gyumri municipality staff leaded by the deputy mayor R. Sanoyan and the staff secretary R. Asatryan visited different Gyumri schools and congratulated on the start of the new academic year. In Gyumri high school N2, R. Sanoyan congratulated the students and wished them academic success and new achievements, considering the fact that these years at senior school are going to pass by quickly by becoming base for the choosing the future occupation. At Gyumri Russian School N19 of 102 military base, along with start of the new academic year the schools 20th foundation date was also celebrated. In his speech the deputy mayor R. Sanoyan first read Gyumri mayor S. Balasanyan’s congratulatory message, who prioritized the school’s role in the Armenian-Russian friendship relationships.
I heartily congratulate you on the September 1st; the start of the new academic year. I am sending my special congratulations and warm wished in particular the first grade students this day of knowledge, and wish that these years to be the most memorable and productive.
On August 21st, children from 24 preschool educational institutions under Gyumri municipality’s supervision received school bags and stationeries. The deputy mayor Vagharshak Mkhitaryan first congratulated the children and wished them success and new achievements at the same time prioritizing the role of the preschool institutions for children’s development and for their future education. Parents in their turn congratulated for the attention and mentioned that this type of an attitude has both psychological and social purpose. According to Gyumri council decision, 5 million dram will be provided for purchasing 1000 school bags and stationeries out of which 771 was distributed to preschool institution and the rest to the children from vulnerable families.
On August 14, Gyumri mayor Samvel Balasanyan received the Honorary Consul of the Italian Republic Antonio Montalto. After greeting the guest the mayor highly appreciated the consul’s interest for Gyumri’s development. In his reply speech Antonio Montalto thanked the mayor for receiving him and at the same time presented some projects connected with definite investments in Gyumri, which will promote incoming and outgoing tourism in Armenia’s cultural capital.
Gyumri mayor expressed his readiness to support the implementation of the projects in the range of the capabilities, which will allow using Gyumri’s cultural potential accurately and purposefully, considering the fact that partnership with the Italian part has its visible results. During the meeting both sides discussed other issues of bilateral interest.
