Gyumri mayor Samvel Balasanyan received the first pan-Armenian winter games participants from Gyumri, on February 21, 2014. The mayor greeted the athletes along with Katya Galstyan, the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics participant and hoped that in winter pan-Armenian games Gyumri athletes will show their best results and will receive most of the medals. The athletes promised in their turn to realize the expectations and return with high results.
For the first pan-Armenian winter games Gyumri will present in one direction /skiing/ with 15 athletes, representing Gyumri winter sports school. The winter school director Slavik Ghazaryan expressed his thankfulness from Gyumri municipality, athletes and the sports school for their support. With the help of Gyumri municipality the sports school has been able to buy new skies and the athletes of the winter pan-Armenian winter games will participate with new sportswear.
